Lyall Bay Surf and Life Saving Club has been invited to send a team of 12 members to participate in two demonstration carnivals in Turkey in August this year. One carnival on Burc Beach on the Black Sea and the other on the Aegean Sea near ANZAC cove, as well as a swimming race across the Dardanelles, a 4 km swim from the Europe side of the Dardanelles to the Asia side.

They\'ve arrived in Turkey. If you want to follow their progress take this link to their blog.

Emma Robinson with the \'Good Luck\' cake she made for Samantha Lee and Georgia Hind who leave (along with Gary Hurring - Coach and Philip Rush - OWS Coach and Assistant Coach) on Monday for the Jnr Pan Pacs. Gareth Kean will join the team in Hawaii after he has completed competing at the Pan Pacs.

Day 5: Georgia finishes 11th in the 10km OWS in a PB of 2:05:54.74.

Day 3: Samantha qualifies for the \'B\' Final in a Wellington Age (18) record (1:02.48) in the 100 Fly. Gareth qualifies fastest in a meet record time (1:58.84) in the 200 Back.

Samantha finishes 5th in the \'B\' Final of the 100 Fly in a Wellington Age (18) record (1:01.80). Gareth wins Gold in the \'A\' Final of the 200 back in a Meet record, NZ Open and Age (18) record and Wellington Open and Age (18) record (1:57.78).

Day 1: Gareth qualifies fastest in a meet record time (54.89) in the 100 Back. Samantha is off the pace in her 200 Fly but still breaks the Wellington Age (18) record (2:20.16) and will be in the \'B\' Final tonight.

Gareth wins Gold in the \'A\' Final of the 100 Back (54.91). Samantha comes 3rd in the \'B\' Final of the 200 Fly and breaks the Wellington Age (18) record (2:19.18) again.

Day 3: Tash doesn\'t swim the 400 Free. Gareth makes the \'A\' Final in the 200 Back breaking his NZ Age (18yrs) and Wellington Open and Age (18yrs) records (1:58.62).

Gareth finishes 5th in the 200 Back \'A\' Final and breaks the NZ Age (18yrs) and Wellington Open and Age (18yrs) records (1:58.55) again.

Day 2: Tash makes the \'B\' Final in the 100 Free (55.90). She won\'t swim the final but will save herself for the 4 x 200 Free relay. Gareth breaks the Wellington Open and Age (18yrs) Records (26.01) in the 50 Back and makes the \'B\' Final.

Gareth Finishes 6th in the \'B\' Final of the 50 Back  and breaks the Wellington Open and Age (18yrs) Records (25.94) again. The Womens 4 x 200 Free Relay Team come 5th in a NZ Record time (7:59.50).

DAY 1: Tash finally breaks the 2:00.00 barrier in the 200 Free breaking her Wellington Open Record (1:59.70). Gareth also breaks his Wellington Open and Age Group (18yrs) records (55.00) in the 100 Back. Both will be in tonights finals.

Tash finishes 7th in the 200 Free \'A\' Final breaking her Wellington Open Record (1:58.80) again in the process. Not to be out done Gareth also finishes 7th in the 100 Back \'A\' Final breaking his Wellington Open and Age Group (18yrs) records (54.57) again.

Note: SNZ in their press releases have said that Tash\'s 200 Free time is a NZ Record. A check of SNZ records does not support this.

Tash and Gareth are now heading to the USA for a SNZ swim camp prior to the meet. After the Pan Pacific Championships Gareth will join up with Capital members Samantha Lee, Georgia Hind, Gary Hurring (Head Coach) and other members of the SNZ team in Hawaii for the Junior Pan Pacific Championships.

Congratulations to Tash Hind and Gareth Kean on their selection in the New Zealand Team to the Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine California from the 18 - 22 August.

New relay Selection Process for Swimming Wellington Relay Teams.

Capital is looking for a team manager. Experience is not always a requirement but a willingness to run around after the swimmers is. All costs are paid by the team and accommodation will be ‘share’ basis with other team management.

Lyall Bay Surf Life Saving Club invite all Capital swimmers to join their team for this year’s NZ Surf Pool Champs being held in Wellington from 1 – 3 October.

A weekend of fun and different rescue swim races –open to all swimmers aged from 9 years – 90 years. 2010 marks 100 years of the Lyall Bay club and we would like to retain the National Trophy we have own for the last 4 years.

All swimmers welcome - you do not need to be a qualified lifeguard or a current member of the club. For more information on how to enter see the flyer.
