June, 29 2009 2009 AGM It was certainly encouraging to see so many people at the AGM and prize giving on Sunday, I would imagine there were around 100, which is a true indication of the strength of the club at all levels. Many thanks to all parents and swimmers who took the time to come and a special ‘well done’ to all the swimmers who walked away with the silverware. It’s a true achievement to win one of the Capital awards, the competition is tougher than at most other clubs and there are some famous names on those trophies, so to have something on the sideboard is just reward for your hard work throughout the year! We should also acknowledge and thank the club members who stepped down from helping to run the club and congratulate the new members who have stepped up. (see web site for full list under ‘contacts’) Also we need to celebrate the fantastic coaching team we now have at the club. With Gary assisted by Luke and Timon providing leadership across the squads, as well as Danyon , Nick and Sam all contributing their part, we can confidently agree with Jan Cameron that we have one of the best coaching setups in New Zealand. So my only request is that we continue to pull together, as a club, and lets see how good we really can be. It’s a pleasure to be associated with such a vibrant and interesting group of people.
