May, 26 2009 Junior Pan Pacific Champs Day 4: Session 8 - Ellen finishes 4th in her 'B' final (2:19.92). Samantha finishes 6th in her 'B' final (27.82). Gareth wins another gold medal as part of the NZ Men's 400 medley relay team. His lead-off time in the relay of 56.27 breaks his Wellington 17 Age group record he set earlier in the meet. Session 7 - Ellen qualifies for the 'B' Final in the 200IM (2:21.37). Samantha qualifies for the 'B' final in the 50 Free (27.94). Day 3: Session 6 - Ellen withdrew from her 'B' Final. Samantha finishes 8th in her 'A' final in a slightly faster time than this morning (1:02.21). In an outstanding swim Gareth wins GOLD in a meet record time of 1:59.52 (931 Fina Points) which also breaks the NZ 17 Age group & Open record. Session 5 - Ellen qualifies for the 'B' final in the 400 Free in 4:31.25 (a time well outside her best). Samantha qualifies in 8th place in the 'A' final of the 100 Fly in 1:02.42 (NZ 16 Age group record, Wellington 16 Age group & Open record). Gareth qualifies in 1st place in the 'A' final of the 200 Back in a time of 2:02.42 (smashing the Wgtn 17 Age group record by just under 4 secs and also taking out the Open record held by Jon Winter since 1995). Day 2: Session 4 - Samantha improved her time slightly (1:00.02) and finished 8th in the 'B' final. Ellen finished 5th in a Wellington record time of 58.05. Tomorrow Ellen has the 400 Free, Samantha 100 Fly and Gareth 200 Back. Session 3 - Ellen (58.58) and Samantha (1:00.90) swam the 100 Free and have qualified for tonights 'B' final. Day 1: Session 2 - Finals completed Gareth swam a little slower (56.75 - 4th) than his heat and out of the medals. Ellen also swam a liitle slower (2:06.93 - 6th) than her heat time. Samantha swam faster (2:17.89 - 8th) for a NZ Age Group record. Session 1 - Our 3 swimmers have each had a heat swim this morning. Gareth qualifying for the 'A' final (100 Back - 56.38) and Samantha (200 Fly - 2:18.81) and Ellen (200Free - 2:04.62) qualifying for the 'B' finals.
