Reasons to be cheerful
So the adventure comes to a slightly sad end. Thorndon is closing and Kilbirnie reopens over the weekend (official start on Monday 31 August).

That means we all revert back to our normal squad venues and times. Parents may wish to celebrate but it appears the swimmers have taken to the new routine with a great attitude, especially the Thorndon crew.

What appeared, at first glance, to be a tough challenge has turned out to be a really enjoyable experience for all concerned. So much so we may look to use Thorndon again in the future, especially in the summer....... if they will have us back.

Highlights include the brass bar on tumble turns, the ‘Luke’ dry land sessions and of course the famous spa!

Congratulations to all the swimmers and parents who have made the effort and coped with the new venues, but especially to the coaches who have made it work.

Next stop Wellington Champs, good luck if you're one of the 120 who have qualified, and watch out for the male v female mars bar match up!
