Kia ora koutou,

As you know, in response to the Government’s announcements, the Wellington City Council have closed all swimming facilities until further notice. These are unprecedented times for our Club and families. Myself and the Board’s thoughts are with you all during this tough time, including our Olympic athletes.

The Capital Board and Coaches are working through a coordinated process to send you regular updates on topics of interest. We will continue to follow the advice from the Ministry of Health as we have a duty of care to responsibly ensure the safety and well-being of our Members and Coaches.

Squad Fees

As the Club is no longer able to provide Squad Training sessions, squad fee invoices for all Capital Swim Club families have been suspended from 1 April, 2020. We will advise you as soon as practicable when are are looking to re-activate your squad fee invoice due to training re-commencing.

Families who have made payments or are wanting to make payments that apply to training from April 1, 2020 onwards are asked to contact the Club’s Accounts person, Sharon Pippos at These payments will need to be refunded or transferred to the Club as a gratefully accepted donation during this period of suspension.

Our Coaching team is working through a coordinated process to inform your swimmers what they can do over this forced break, including how they can be ‘virtually’ connected with your swimmer(s).

We will continue working on the operation of our Club and strategic direction during this time and update you on any progress.

One final word from me to your swimmers. To break the monotony of this serious event we’d love to hear or see any pictures that they might like to share publicly, of how they are keeping fit throughout this week – it could be innovative, serious or fun pics.  Either way, please send this information to Joe O’Callaghan on

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me on

Keep safe everyone.

Ngā mihi,

Matt Titcombe,
Chairperson, Capital Swim Club
