17 Jan 2026
Welcome back to Capital Swim Club for 2026!
Kia ora Capital whānau,
Happy New Year! We’re excited for what’s in store - here’s a couple of things we’d like to update you with.
What’s on in January?
Mon 19th Jan | No Training (Wgtn Anniversary)
There will be no training this Mon 19th Jan for Wellington Anniversary Day. Enjoy your public holiday!
Mon 26th Jan | New Squads & Fees
A reminder that our new squad and fees structure will take effect in Term 1 from the 26th Jan. You will notice that there are no fee increases! This is to help lower the financial barrier to our current and prospective members. Check out our website for all the information you’ll need.
Sat 31st Jan | Manawatū Age Champs
Coach Jon is wanting as many swimmers as possible to enter the upcoming Mana
Manawatū Age Champs. This is a great chance to race Long Course (50m) and outdoors! Fingers crossed the sun will shine, so bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Carpooling can be arranged for those attending. Entries close 10pm Mon 26th Jan through FastLane
Coach Jon’s Welcome Back
“Great to see so many swimmers back after the Christmas and New Year break, looking rested and sharp after our first week of training. The energy around the pool has been awesome, and I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together this year.
Our first meet on the calendar is the Manawatū Age Group Championships at the Lido Outdoor 50m Pool in Palmerston North. Further information will follow, but this is a fantastic entry‑level championship meet for all ages. I’d love to see a strong Capital Swim Club presence — it’s a great chance to learn, race hard, and set the tone for the season.
It does mean a bit of travel or a couple of nights away, and we’re at the mercy of the weather, but it’s always a worthwhile experience for swimmers and families alike.
Entries close at 10:00pm on 26 January 2026.”
Club Developments
Constitution
We are currently updating our constitution and reviewing our club’s processes to ensure that we comply with the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 and will be holding a SGM in February where we will need our members to approve this. More details to follow…
Recruitment
One focus this year is to increase our number of members. This is important for creating a positive environment that allows us all to succeed! There are many benefits for shoulder-tapping your friends and family members to join - check them out below.
We Need Help!
We have our upcoming National Qualifier on Sat 7th March. We are also after general help on our Board to boost our membership numbers. If you are able to help with running events or would like to join the Board we would love to hear from you! Please email board@capitalswim.co.nz
As always, for other questions or feedback please email board@capitalswim.co.nz
